florida car insurance questions
If I get a license without a car, how much insurance is it?

I know that if you get a license but no car, the head of household is charged. Question is how much will it be (I’m 16), is it an annual or monthly charge, and I live in Florida.

It is hard to say, call you local agent or do some research yourself by using seach engine, you should get the idea.

How does this sound for moving out for first time. ?

Make $14.50 an hour, work 40 hours a week.
Roommate that makes $10 an hour, work 40 hours a week.

These are expenses (monthly) some of this are the shared ..which I just put in my half of the total price.

Rent: $315 (This is my half) – Total Rent is $630
Utilities: $100 (This is my half)
Car Insurance: $150
Cable/Internet: $50 (This is my half)
Cell Phone: $70
Food: $150 (This is my half)
Gas for Car: $50-70

I go to school, but I get it paid for through a grant, I don’t have any children.

Of course what I outlined is the necessities … I will have a good amount left over for miscellaneous items.

How does this sound? Should I be okay to move out?

Yes, you make more than enough. The total household yearly income would be about 50900, you make 30k a year your friend makes about 20k
your total monthly bills are 900, you make 2300 per month, your good to go. that would take no brainer, but I thought I would just break it down for you, so you get the big picture. I could tell just looking at your total monthly bills. good luck with your new place. next thing to shoot for is, buy your very own house, there is nothing like owning your own home, not renting. you’ll get there some day, and when you do you will be so pleased and happy with your purchase.

high point car insurance nj

Question about SR22 insurance in NJ?

My live in fiance just got a DWI. I’m trying to plan ahead regarding the car insurance situation and I was wondering…..Currently he is a driver on my policy. If he gets his own policy and I keep the policy I currently have, are MY rates going to go sky high also? Am I just better off joining the assigned risk pool with him? Also, I know that a DWI is 9 insurance points for 3 years. Does that mean after 3 years they will be gone? Does the 3 years start when the SR22 is filed or does it start on the date of the DWI conviction?

If he gets his own insurance, you can exclude him from your policy, but then he won’t be covered if he drives your car, so your rates shouldn’t go up and you shouldn’t need to join the AR pool.

Not knowing NJ law, I’d think the points go on when he’s convicted, and the points should drop off after the three years. However, the conviction may stay on his record (without ponts) for longer.

Whiplash Injury Insurance Claims – Fraudulent Or Genuine?

Although the concept of whiplash was first introduced over 80 years ago and it is scientifically recognised as a legitimate injury, the authenticity of low speed impact claims continue to promote conflicting arguments from insurers and personal injury specialists.

Low speed impacts are typically accidents that occur under the speed of 10 mph and there is often little or no damage to either of the vehicles involved. However passengers of the vehicle that has been struck often complain of neck, shoulder and back pain, typically referred to as whiplash injuries. Sometimes the effects of such injuries are not always immediately apparent and can often appear a number of days after the collision.

When faced with such claims, insurers often try and argue that as the accident occurred at such a low speed, the symptoms complained of are either non-existent or exaggerated and it is often alleged that the majority of such claims are fraudulent. Insurers base these accusations on tests that are carried out on crash test dummies, which show that when a vehicle is struck at a low speed potential whiplash injuries are fairly rare.

The opposing argument for these assertions are that although there may be no apparent damage to the vehicle, research carried out in 2003 and 2004 confirmed injuries are just as likely to be sustained in a low impact collision, as in a high speed accident.

Any results produced following experiments on crash test dummies can also be questioned, as they are usually set up using dummies of an average height and build. It is also likely that the crash test dummies are seated correctly, with seats and headrests in the appropriate position, to minimise or eliminate any potential whiplash injuries. These factors are important when considering the validity of any test results as studies have confirmed that the severity of whiplash injuries are governed by the position of the cars headrest and certain groups such as women and tall people are more prone to suffer whiplash injuries.

Whiplash occurs when the soft tissue and ligaments in the neck or back are strained after a sudden movement or jolt. On the whole, the majority of whiplash injuries subside within a 6 – 9 month period, however approximately 5-10% of cases in the UK show that some injuries last in excess of 1 year and individuals are left with more serious chronic symptoms. Past cases involving more serious injuries have occurred when a vehicle is hit at a low speed. Each individual case is different and each set of facts must be assessed separately on its own merits, therefore it cannot just be assumed that all low speed impact claims are fraudulent.

Although the vehicle may show no damage, the velocity and accompanying force has to be transferred somewhere and usually, this is directly to the occupants of the vehicle being struck, as even at low speeds, the occupants are unable to brace themselves for the impact to prevent any injuries occurring.

Therefore, the occupants are the victims of the accident and are entitled to pursue a claim to recover compensation to redress the whiplash injuries and any other losses suffered.

16 Tips for Securing Your Home Before Traveling

Thousands of Americans escape from the area every day to explore the open road. In today’s travel planning, taking the extra steps to protect yourself and your home is an essential part of your departure plans.

There are many common things that can go wrong while you are away, so make sure to cover all the basics and leave a secure home before leaving it unattended.

Here are 16 Ways to Secure Your Home:

1- Secure important papers and valuables. Use a personal safe or lock box, or invest in renting a security box from a local company to safeguard any essential valuables that cannot be replaced.

2- Check insurance policies for home, auto, and life. Keep a copy of your insurance papers with your important papers.

3- Alert your trusted neighbors to your vacation. Aware community members are the easiest way to help protect your home if they know that you will be gone.

4- Make sure that windows are closed properly and that valuables are not visible from the outside of your home.

5- Hire a housesitter. This can be a personal friend or a professional. Maintaining your home (plants, animals, etc) and protecting it by giving the appearance of being occupied is easily accomplished by hiring a local responsible teenager or contacting a service.

6- Do not advertise your vacation with people you are not personal friends with. One of the biggest mistakes of going on vacation is bragging to the wrong people at the wrong time: which is generally before you leave. Keep your vacation stories for after you have returned.

7- Put mail on hold or get a secure locking mailbox. The post office will hold you mail for a specific time with a simple request, however locking mailboxes with enough storage can simplify the process if you are consistently traveling.

8- Install automatic timers for your lights. Most home improvement stores carry a variety of digital timers that can turn on at random or programmed intervals. Lights create the illusion of having an occupied residence.

9- Leave your car in the driveway, but make sure to not leave a garage door opener in your car.

10- Lock your garage door externally and internally. Garage doors are created with a mechanism that can be forced open from the outside.

11- Leave a key with a friend or neighbor (in addition to having a housesitter) so that they can double-check your property or be available in case of an emergency.

12- Document your valuables. The easiest way to do this is by photographing or taking video of each room, with a quick shot of any specific high-value items. Store the information somewhere else (security box at the bank, family members house, etc). In the event of loss, this will help you file an insurance claim and make sure you didn’t forget anything.

13- Mark your valuables with an Operation Identification number. Your local police department probably has a pamphlet on this process. You can engrave or etch your drivers license number on to valuables, if stolen and later recovered, police can track you down through the department of motor vehicles.

14- Start a community watch and look out for your neighbors. Everyone goes on vacation, and this is an easy opportunity to establish a good-faith relationship with your community and enhance your overall safety.

15- Turn off all appliances (and even unplug them). Your can minimize the risk of an electrical fire by unplugging any unnecessary appliances.

16- Forward your home phone number to your cell phone (or a family member) to answer calls while you are away.

Finally: create a departure checklist for each family member traveling. Include items on this list, but also include important conversations with children and teenagers to make sure that they are not advertising your absence with the wrong people.
