Sued auto repair shop. How do I get my money faster?

My car was stolen from an auto repair shop that didn’t have insurance in September of 2008 and I only had liability which didn’t cover theft. Since the shop was responsible for the safety of my vehicle, I took the owner to court and sued him and I won. It’s been 7 months and I still haven’t received any money and I can’t garnish his wages because he is self-employed. I placed a lien on some of his property but who is to say that he will even sell it in the near future? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You need to get an attorney. I say that because there is a LOT of liability involved when it comes to collecting judgments. Some of the options open to you include: garnishing bank accounts, garnishing personal accounts, having the sheriff seize and sell property (real and personal), etc.

A good attorney can walk you through this minefield. And did you record your judgment where this guy and his shop are? You should do that.
