How To Develop A Network Of Expert Advisors For Your Automobile

Automobile prices keep getting higher and when you consider that your car is usually the second most valuable item you own you want the best possible advice on taking care of it. Some of the questions you may have include insurance, warranties, maintenance issues, and more.

There are many resources available to you to give you expert advice and guidance and it is best to have the information before you need it. If you don’t have a source readily available you may make a bad decision.

One of the best sources for information is your mechanic. Don’t think of seeing your mechanic with the same disdain as a visit to the dentist. A good mechanic can be a wealth of information about all sorts of car related issues and the knowledge is usually not limited to mechanical information. Since mechanics are car lovers they will usually have no problem talking to you about anything automobile related.

Your local automobile dealership can also be a good resource. You can talk to service advisors and mechanics there as well as salespeople. Believe me, salespeople love to talk and it helps them pass the time while they are waiting for a real customer. Another key point if that they may have information about your vehicle that you won’t find anywhere else.

Car clubs are another great place to network and get information and advice. You can find car clubs for almost anything, especially if you own a sports car, a classic, or an imported street racer. In my area there are also several clubs for Jeeps and 4-wheel drives. The members of these kinds of clubs are truly car nuts and are particularly knowledgeable about the vehicles the club identifies with.

If you are more of an introvert and really aren’t into the personal contact and meetings then you can always go online, the internet has thousands of websites devoted to cars and anything associated with them and you can find answers to just about any question you may have. You can probably find an online forum or message board to post your questions to and receive answers back almost immediately.

There is no need to feel overwhelmed or confused about any car related issue. There are numerous individuals that are more than happy to give you free expert advice and as I said if all else fails you can find the answers to your questions online.

car insurance names

car insurance names
What is a big insurance company name that has the best car insurance rates?

I just bought a new car…and though I know my rates were going to jump up, they doubled. I’m in the market for a new company. I currently use safeco.

you can’t really go by the size of a company to get the best rates or the best company for that matter. your rates depend on a lot of things, not just the company. the best thing you can do is call an independent agent in your area and get them to check their companies for you. they write for a lot of companies and can find the best company, best rate for you. its a good thing to have a local agent too, so if you ever need help or have to make a claim, you have someone working for you who knows you and is local.

auto insurance by the mileage

auto insurance by the mileage
Work out of state, can I claim expenses on tax return, days away from home?

If I I work out of state, what expenses, if any, can I claim on my tax return? If I get a per diem for expenses, but it does not fully cover them, does that matter? Can I claim rent, mileage, food, auto, laundry, insurance? I found a per diem table on the IRS website. Is that what I would need to use for each day I’m at work, as it’s broken down by state and then areas within the state? I thought I saw something along the lines of a deduction for days away from home. I couldn’t find a definitive answer on the IRS website.
Thanks!

The per diem table is what you use. It does vary, as you mentioned, depending on states and locales you traveled. It includes meals, lodging, and incidental expenses (see second link). It does not include mileage which is separate and was $.50 1/2/mile Jan. 1st through June 30th and $.58 1/2/mile July 1st through Dec. 31st, 2008. This is basically all expenses incurred in use of vehicle, not including parking fees. No deduction for ‘days away from home’ other than the per diem which means per day.
