car insurance abu dhabi
Kindly do let me know the cost of living in Dubai / Abu Dhabi (break up wise)?
Dear All, what’s the cost of living in Dubai / DIC / or Abu Dhabi region for a family of 5 (myself, wife & 3 kids). I have a job offer in hand, salary-24000 AED/MONTH lumsum (without Accommodation) with basic medical insurance.
I would prefer to have a furnished 2 / 3 bedroom apartment, normal car. Though I am a CANADIAN / PAKISTANI Citizen.
So, what are the monthly expenses towards medical insurance for the family, electricity, water, petrol/gas, grocery, cable connection, internet, entertainment, etc.
I want to live a normal life, not too much luxuries… since i have to support my family members (parents) in Pakistan. Could any body be kind enough to send me the details about it. I would really appreciate your immediate deep concern. Regards,
Imran.
The salaray of Dhs 24.000 does not sound bad, but………
Furnished appartments will be found mostly in Hotel appartments which will cost you arm and leg. For an unfurnished 2 or 3 bedroom appartment you have to calculate a minimum of Dhs 120.000 yearly paid in advance (mostly).
Medical insurance will not cost you a penny. All these costs have to be on the employer and your whole family will be coverd (regional plan?) in a group insurance.
Internet flat rate is Dhs 250 monthly. Telephone calls from landline to landline in within Abu Dhabi are free.
Electricity, water, petrol/gas is much cheaper than in Canada and will depend on how much you use. A 7er BMW will be filled up with gas for DHS 75 and a Corolla with around DHS 50.
Costs for Groceries and entertainment are up in you own hands. Please visit the link giving below. Click on the different icons and you will get an idea of the prices you’ll have to pay for basic food etc:

Also when you did not mention it, please do not underestimate the fees for the school (do not know how old your kids are).
To make a long story short: after rent is paid you have to deal with the budget left and have to find out what to buy where.
You might end up in buying certain groceries in Carrefour and other in the biggest Supermarket LuLu and other items you are used to by living in Canada in expensive stores like Spinney’s or Abela’s.
You’ll make it. It just takes some experience. If you have any other question regarding Abu Dhabi, please do not hesitate to email me.
Take care.
