one more question on insurance,,,, do I HAVE to cancel existing insurance on my mums car…..?

i have a quote from an insurance company who is willing to give me temporary car insurance for 3 months on my mums car, it works out cheaper then going on as second driver, they said i have to cancel my mums insurance but maybe that is because they wanna make money at the end of the day, my mum is saying i don’t have to cancel the existing insurance but i aint sure, i just think she is worried she may not get the refund for paying for a full years insurance if she cancels… help me out guys !!?

your car is insured, and by being a named driver enables you to drive it. I have a policy on my car but I can drive m husbands because i am fully comp, i cannot get a policy specifcally for his car.

If a person is convicted of Motor Insurance Fraud (Staging a car accident) is it still possible to get cover? They were sentenced to 6 months imprisonment suspended for 2 years and had to wear a tag for a month… just in case this helps.

It is possible, but will not be easy.

Any reputable insurer will use a central database where people found guilty of such fraud will be registered. Insurers help each other out when it comes to fraud and all fraudsters get put on this register. Even if you take out a policy without disclosing the fraud, the insurer will find out within days of the policy being set up and will void your policy for non-disclosure of serious offences.

There are insurers out there who will offer cover, but as they are few and far between and take on what they consider to be high risk insurance that other insurers wont touch, they will be very expensive.

My advice would be to use a reputable price comparison site on the internet. When filling out the form, disclose the offence. When it gives you the list of quotes, search through the ones who will offer a quote, and that’s your starting point.

Eventually, under the rehabilitation of offenders act, there will come a point when the conviction will be ’spent’, and you will no longer need to declare it for insurance purposes.

Do you have breakdown cover with your car insurance??

No, I don’t have breakdown cover, funny thing is the only times I have needed breakdown cover I had it, strange.

What Insurance Company is this?

I saw this commercial that had this college girl and this other guy saying how much its going to cost her breakdown car. She texted him, dude i’m a college student or something like that. Its an insurance company that covers both accidental insurance and car breakdown coverage. What company was this??

I cant remember the name of it, but if it is the one I am thinking about, don’t buy it. There have been major complaints on this company. It sounds good that they will pay for your car breaking down, but if I understand this correct from what I read, they only pay up to the value of your car period.

In other words, if you car is worth $2,000 and your repairs cost $3,000, they will only pay $2,000, the value of your car. And since they paid repairs of the value of your car, they will never pay another dime for another claim and you could be paying premiums for something they will never pay. Or another instance using the same example, the repairs are $1,000 and 3 months later have repairs costing $2,500 more, so they pay only the difference of your car that they paid previously, which would be $1000 and you still would have to pay $1,500 out of pocket.

When you see that commercial again, write down the name and do a google search of complaints and if I am right, you will be glad you never buy this.
