What is a good first car for a female teenager?

I am a 16 year old high school student, and I want to buy my first car in the next few months. I was just wondering what kind of car is good for me. I want something that I can get used and under $3000. I also want it to be cheap on gas and insurance. It also has to be reliable, of course. And it would help if it looks decent too.

Toyota Camry or Corolla
or
Honda Civic or Accord
= perfect first car

All of the models go back pretty far so if you get an older model, it will be cheaper, though the body of the car is a little outdated but what can you expect for $3000?

The cars are all reliable and get good gas mileage because they are smaller cars. They are also pretty safe in case you get into an accident. Not saying that you would. (I hate it when people assume that you are going to get into an accident just because you are an “inexperienced teen driver.”)

These companies are pathetic to take a lot of money and if you look at your list of exclusions to pay for anything that uses the age and wear. Your best bet is to do preventive maintenance and keep your car in the best as possible, use a good mechanic. Do not give great songs of a society eager for cash that disappears next month and you have nothing. Volvo S40 or Volvo C30?

I'm looking to buy my first car. I think it is a Volvo S40 T5 (2005) or a Volvo C30 2007 (And Maybe T5). My budget is $ 20,000. I wanted a BMW, but decided the insurance cost too much, instead I want a Volvo. As is seen both in the Volvo C30 and Volvo S40. better comparison, it is in these areas? performance and speed? Comfort? Price? MPG / Eco-Friendly-truth? Would it be better a private party or used Volvo inventory? Thanks!
