Actual damage and even then you have to mitigate costs. Car in storage awaiting auto-garage bill be paid while you’re in a rental as a result of a car accident would be actual damages. Therefore storage fees and rental costs would be in addition to the actual repair. But even then, I believe you sue the registered owner who then gets their insurance to pay the judgment. Insurance company is not going to pay a demand for punitive damage.

I recently got a DUI in California and are required to file sr-22. Where would be the cheapest way to do this?

My license has been suspended for the last 6 months. I Need a license to get to work and the DUI programs that I have to do. I got a paper from the DMV saying i could apply for one, and what i would need would be sr22 and proof of liability. Do i need to have insurance to have sr22? What if i dont own a vehicle? I need to purchase a vehicle, but I would need a license to buy a car, how would i be able to do this? Someone told me I could get a motorcycle sr22 just to get my license out of its suspension, and then simply keep that one and just “borrow” a car from my dad or so.
