Is it true that my auto insurance rate will increase even if I repair my car privately?

My new 2009 honda civic’s rear bumper got a little bit disfigured and scraped after a stupid little accident. Is there any way the insurance company would find out if I repair it privately (not through the insurance company)? If I bring it to the dealer body shop or a third party body shop, will they report it to the insurance company? I heard they will register the damage with the car’s VIN to Carfax and that way the insurance company will know. Is that true??

I got declined for auto insurance whats the best thing I can do ?

I live in ontario canada and got a quote over the internet, i wanted to insure the car the day i was gonna get it. so then i called TD insurance and asked them to insure me and i told them i never had any tickets in the past 3 years but they found a major driving offence in may 2007. i got caught driving with no licence at all. so then the insurance company found out and they said they can only insure new drivers with clean record. but the record was before i got my actual g1 and g2. I called a broker and it ended up to be 3 times more than i was quoted for TD.

You may have been simply denied for lying. The best thing you can do is shop for another policy and never, ever lie to an insurance company. Many companies have special high risk insurance that they can put you into. It’s more expensive but you may not have a choice.

how do i get my insurance company to pay retail value on my car?

My car was stolen on the 5th of August, I made the claim to my ins. company. the car was recovered on th 15th of August in a not so great neighborhood. they took the engine, tranny well lets say only thing left under the hood was the fan and radiator reserve tank. my stereo, (alpine in dash navigation) wheels, headlights with hid bulbs and other things were missing. Now here i am almost a month later car payment is due and im haggling with my insurance company about paying retail. they had some company CCC valuscope to do market research, this report is all screwed up not only did the search up to 149 miles away form me but they didn’t search my specific model. so showing up are alot of base models. i OWNED a 2002 cadillac DHS, they compared my car to the base Deville model. the standard equipment is very different between the two. i just want retail for my car! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

the short and not-so-sweet of it is that you are not going to get “retail” for your car.

You are only owed market value.

My recommendation:

Do your own research and provide your own documentation. Check their report to make sure it has all of your options. Provide proof if you have it. A super stereo is not going to make your car worth more money. Neither are tinted windows, a fancy paint job, sub-woofer in the trunk, special shocks or anything else like that. New tires will make a little bit of a difference. Clean vehicle history and service records will make a little bit of a difference.

If they did not use the similar make/model info then they need to go at least 1 year better AND they do need to use your make/model. That should not be hard.

It may be hard to find it in your area but as long as they have representative vehicles…that’s what they are supposed to have.

Oh – and you need to make sure they’ve been in touch with your leinholder to let them know they are going to total out your vehicle.

I agree that it’s not safe to have them driving, but I also wonder if it would even help to raise the age to 18. I think when kids first get their licenses, they think they just turned into the coolest person in the world, and a lot of them become so wrapped up in thinking that that they forget to be careful. I’m not sure raising the age would help that much. I think we should try it though.
