* Valid insurance on the start date of the tax disc (or the date you apply later) is checked on The Motor Insurance Database (MID). Note:, if your car tax and insurance are due at the same time or if you have recently changed insurance company, there could be problems with the checking of your insurance while waiting for the MID to update their database.

Before you tax, you can make an online check to see if the MID has updated.

Make sure to have the following when Pay Car Tax Online

* The 16 digit reference number printed in the yellow box on the front of your V11 reminder or the 11 digit reference number shown on the front of your Registration Certificate and your vehicle registration number.

* Your DLA404 if you claim disability exemption.

* Your debit or credit card.

Can I get antique car insurance?

I called my bank USAA to get a rough quote for antique car insurance but the told since im 19 I can’t get antique car insurance. I asked them if i could put it under my fathers name and they told me that whoevers name its under is the only one that can drive it.

What is a typical range of costs for teen auto insurance?

I have to say – this field is RIPE for a good consumer survey that gives some general ranges of insurance by state or region. Nearly everything online – (correction – EVERYthing) on line links to get quotes from insurers (commercial sites) . Fine, but suppose a kid is in the early stages of learning about cars and parents are new to the kid driver insurance game and they just want to get a feel for ranges of prices based on region, car type, first time driver, male/female, etc. Let’s assume a modest new car in the $25,000 new range and a responsible kid with middle income family – good insurance history. The new driver is added to current parent policies. Is the range $1000 to $3000? Or narrower … $1500 – $2500.

I have seen insurance go up by 800-over 5,000 by adding on the first teen driver. The best bet, and easiest way to save money is to find a company that will actually let you rate the driver to the vehicle they drive and NOT the highest rated driver to the highest rated car (which is what a LOT of them do). If you can find a company that will do this, buy a car that you will not need full coverage on. This will save the most money.
