commercial auto insurance basics

I would like to learn insurance?

I am currenlty working for an insurance company that specializes in insurance for commercial accounts. I’m the receptionist so I really don’t do much. I would like to take on more responsibility but here you do not get respect without a liscense. My boss will pay for my classes but I don’t know the first thing about insurance. From what I hear we deal with general liability, fiduciary liability, d&o, life, commercial auto, and workers comp. Also we have a dental department. Before I go into my classes I would like to know the basics is there a place online that can help me, or a book I can pick up somewhere? Thanks for the help guys.

Get your license right away. Go take the classes that your boss is going to pay for. They are pretty easy. Being that your company handles both P&C and Life, tell them that you want to get both licenses. This will make you more valuable. I think I did my studying through Dearborn, but there are several good companies to use.

auto insurance credit score

auto insurance credit score
why does low credit score make your auto insurance higher?

A low credit score does not make your insurance costs higher per say. A low credit score simply does not give as much of a discount as a high credit score may.
Example: Without running credit report on our systems insurance costs would be say $1000 a year. With a low credit score it only discounts $150 a year making what you pay $850 per year. With a high credit score it could discount it $400 per year making your costs $600 a year. That “discount” takes into account the likelyhood that you will A. Be a constantly paying client B. If you take care of your finances, you take care of your belongings Home, Car, Jewelry etc. and C. In the case of an accident you are more likely to be able to pay the assigned deductibles.
These are not all of the factors that come with the package but gives a general idea and abit more of an explaination than the previous answers I have read.

allstate car insurance claims office

allstate car insurance claims office
A question about car insurance claim regarding speaking with the adjuster?

I am going to an Allstate Drive in claims office on Monday to get money for damage that was done to my car. My question is, I know I don’t have to have my car fixed by anyone they are affiliated with, but can I have them make the check out to me?

It was my bumper that was damaged and the estimate is for a new bumper, it is really just a small chunk taken out, but I was really thinking about just keeping the money. I know people do this all the time, but is it legal?
I have gotten an estimate and it is about $700, the whole bumper they say has to be replaced because they could fix it but it would only save about $100 and it would actually take longer to fix which equals more labor.

Their insured damaged you and they only deal in dollars, sometimes they try to steer you to their “favored” shops who give them turkeys at Thanksgiving and other favors.

Legal? Certainly, it is your car.
I would get one estimate before going just to make sure they don’t lowball you, they often try to short you a couple hundred, they are trained to think that every time they write a check its their own money.

cheap car insurance occupation

cheap car insurance occupation
Which occupation would be best for car insurance purposes?

I can honestly say “Retired”,”Investor”, “Private Investor” Or “Self Employed”.

Considering the fact that I don’t drive very much anyway, less than 3000-3500 miles per year would one have a better risk classification and therefore lower rates than the other ?

Oh, and Im 47 by the way so not your “typical” retired type person.

(Don’t really have a life but that wasn’t the question)

My liability insurance is pretty cheap but Im the kind of guy that likes to check every 6 months just to make sure Im getting the best price for the same coverage.

Thanks !

PS, on a sort of related note, is it a problem if my credit report might not say the exact same thing ?

I suspect it may say Self Employed and my former business.
Why is it you say, in the US it shouldnt matter ?

Just curious.

As far as the credit bureas are concerned, I dont see how it could cause a problem.

I rarely apply for credit.

In the USA, it really shouldn’t matter
