Where Do Americans Spend The Least On Cars? You’ll Be Surprised
Where do people spend the least on their cars, gasoline, and getting around? Surprisingly, among major cities, it’s Detroit. Those in the Motor City know how to keep automotive costs down; Detroit residents spent a total of $2,124 on average in vehicle-related costs, including gas, topping even mass-transit-frequenting New Yorkers. Locally, those…

Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident Attorney’s Top Ten Red Flags You May Have Brain Damage After a Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident

1. After the accident, you start wandering between cars on the freeway asking if anyone will let you borrow their car.

2. You wonder why you have so many pockets in your clothes and why most of them are empty.

3. You can’t remember who you are and wonder if the girl in you wallet is your wife, a hot girlfriend or your sister.

4. You decide to make something of yourself as soon as you do remember who you are.

5. You’re sure you have a really good explanation for everything, if you can just remember what everything is.

6. You try surfing the internet while wearing a swimsuit.

7. You buy a hamburger but really don’t taste the ham in it.

8. You have an ice cream, but feel gypped when it doesn’t come with any ice.

9. You marvel at the simplicity of socks.

10. You still don’t understand how to do most things on your cell phone.

Now here are ten useful tips of advice from a Los Angeles pedestrian accident lawyer to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a pedestrian accident in Los Angeles, or any city, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www.SebastianGibsonLaw.com  and learning how we can assist you.

Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it may have been a few hours since the accident. However, if you ever have another accident, or if it’s only been a few hours since you were hurt, here’s what you should do from the start.

First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, it’s just good manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get angry or start a fight.

Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, put them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and move them more safely at a later point.

Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didn’t know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.

Fourth, get the other driver’s information including their names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.

Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you aren’t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you can’t do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.

Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Don’t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, don’t get treatment you don’t need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Seventh, call a good Los Angeles pedestrian accident attorney as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the lawyer can gather other important evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A good Los Angeles pedestrian accident attorney can save you from making a great deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you think you will save money by not having an attorney, think again. A good Los Angeles pedestrian accident lawyer can almost always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most Los Angeles pedestrian accident lawyers advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.

Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driver’s insurance company, it’s good advice to retain an attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your lawyer can give you the form for this.

Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This almost never works out to your advantage. Don’t agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his story and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.

Tenth, don’t pay a traffic ticket without a fight if you weren’t at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.

Car Rentals vs Car Ownership?

I live in Missouri near one of the larger cities, about
10 miles from the city. I am tired of driving, paying the
cost of insurance, maintenance, and of course $gas$
so I was thinking since I am middle age at home alone
and do not need car everyday. Would it be cheaper to
RENT an auto say maybe 1 a week. And would I need
to have insurance of some sort? Any ideas? I just
need to get to the city oh maybe at most 1 a week and I would
save lots. Going to city grabbing a meal out, buying stuff
I do not need, would really seem to help my budget.
Does this sound feasible or dumb?
Let me know what else I need to consider.
Any ideas, tips are helpful.
Thank You in advance to all who reply.
Isn’t a lease about the same as ownership
as you have to carry full insurance,
maintain the car,etc.?

Check on a lease, take someone with you to understand terms correctly. *mamatx

Medical bills increase, and many do not have the means to pay for all the expenses. Contacting our personal injury law firm immediately after an accident is free, convenient and one of the smartest things you can do.
You will never regret getting accurate information that might change your life or the life of the one you love.
When unexpected tragedy strikes and you become a victim of a serious personal injury, it is normal to feel angry, confused, and helpless. Whether you were harmed in a car accident, trailer truck crash, or on the job, you need experienced guidance and compassionate support. At the Massachusetts Personal Injury Law Center, with offices in Boston, Natick, Springfield, Salem, and other nearby cities and towns throughout Massachusetts – without being a mere “referral service” as seen on television and radio ads – our personal injury attorneys are Experienced, Aggressive and Successful – offering free initial consultations and meetings with clients at a time and location most convenient to them.
Personal Injury Law is a unique form of law.  The successful personal injury lawyers at the Massachusetts Personal Injury Law Center are highly experienced, aggressive and actively seek the long-term well being of their clients.  Friendly and effective service is what you receive, including our promise that you will be kept in the loop regarding the status of your case.  And you have the final say whether a settlement offer is accepted or we continue to fight for fair compensation all the way to a jury trial.
Insurance companies want you to believe that handling accident claims is a simple matter that does not require the assistance of an attorney.  Insurance companies can profit off you by settling claims for far less than what they are worth.  That is why you need an aggressive, hard-hitting attorney on your side so that you can maximize your financial recovery.
Hit-and-Run Accidents: Where the driver who causes an accident fails to stop at the accident scene, it may be difficult for the victim of the accident to later identify the at-fault driver so as to bring a lawsuit.
Car-Pedestrian Accidents: Where a motor vehicle collides with a pedestrian, the pedestrian will often suffer catastrophic injury.  Unfortunately, pedestrians often have difficulty making claims against drivers, as the accidents are frequently attributed to the conduct of the pedestrian.
Car-Motorcycle Accidents: Motorcycle drivers are susceptible to serious injury, even in collisions which would be relatively minor had they occurred between cars.
Car-Bicycle Accidents: Bicyclists are vulnerable to serious injury when hit by cars, and are also susceptible to having drivers open car doors in front of them – a hazard which can cause them to be catapulted over the car door in a collision.  Drivers often report that they did not see the bicyclist until after the collision, or that they misjudged the bicyclist’s speed.  Some bicyclists engage in very hazardous actions, such as ignoring traffic signals or riding on the wrong side of the road, making an accident much more likely. The most severe and lasting injuries to bicyclists tend to be head injuries, so helmet use is encouraged.
In fact, the Massachusetts Legislature has recently enacted new legislation to make the roads safer for Bay State bicyclists.  A copy of the law may be found at: http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/seslaw08/sl080525.htm
Bus and Semi Truck / Tractor-Trailer Accidents: Given the size and mass of these types of vehicles, accidents involving busses or trucks can be quite serious.  And with busses in particular, issues arise given the fact that passengers are often unrestrained and in the context of loading and unloading passengers.  Drivers of some trucks and tractor-trailers are often subject to state and federal regulation, including managing how many hours a day they can drive, how much sleep they need, and the condition and maintenance of their trucks.
After-Market Modifications: Where after-market modifications have been made to a vehicle, such as having powerful or tinted headlights, or window tinting installed, those modifications may affect both the safety of the vehicle for its occupants and other drivers.
Government Involvement: Whether the government is directly involved in your injuries, e.g. an automobile accident with an MBTA bus or police officer, or indirectly, e.g. defective conditions on a roadway, government involvement poses a whole range of peculiar complexities.  Two immediate concerns are the scope of governmental immunity, and notice requirements.  Call Town & Country Legal Associates now for more information.
In the event you are injured in an auto accident in Massachusetts you should know that no-fault benefits can cover your personal losses regardless of who caused the accident. Called “Personal Injury Protection” (PIP) benefits, they cover 75% of lost wages up to $8,000.00, replacement services, death benefits and the first $2,000.00 in medical bills if you have medical insurance.  In addition to PIP benefits, you can buy up to $25,000.00 in “Medical Payments” (Med Pay) coverage for a nominal amount.  Med Pay benefits will pay for all the medical bills beyond the first $2000.00. Med Pay coverage will supplement your PIP coverage and health insurance benefits.
When you’re injured, you need all the help you can get, and you need it as soon as possible.  Waiting can only possibly hurt your chances at a full and fair recovery.

The Financial Consequences For Driving Without Car Insurance

Are you a motorist who has car insurance? If your answer is yes, good for you, it is a good investment for yourself. But if your answer is no, then you are currently in a big financial problem. Having car insurance is a big financial responsibility, but having none brings a greater risk. And here are the reasons why:

First, and for beginners, driving without car insurance is considered by most of the states if not all to be illegal, illegal meaning punishable in the court of law. And when you also say punishable in the court of law, it can either be that you pay fine, or you do jail time or even both. In some states that consider driving without insurance illegal, when a motorist without car insurance is caught the car is automatically impounded. He is subjected to pay a fine which ranges from five hundred dollars to five thousand dollars, and also do jail time in some instances.

Driving without car insurance when caught makes a motorist pay fines, but larger sums of money is to be paid by uninsured motorist when he is involved in a car accident and he is found to be at fault. When an insured motorist caused a car accident, he is of course obligated to pay for his own hospital fees and also the damages to his car. The negligent driver must also pay the hospitalization of the victim or victims that were injured in the accident and in worse case scenarios the funeral expenses of those who died in the accident. The victims are the other driver involved in the accident, all his occupants, the pedestrians who got injured by the accident and also the occupants of the negligent driver. Property damages are also to be paid by the negligent driver.

Paying fines, hospital expenses, funeral expenses, and property repairs are a big burden for an uninsured motorist. But it will still be a bigger burden if in case he just loaned for his car. Lending companies make sure that when someone loans for a car, he should get car insurance. This is for lending companies to still have the opportunity to collect a little more from the car insurance company in case the car got totalled in a car accident or it got stolen.

When you loan for a car and you think by cancelling on your car insurance would save you money, you are making a pretty big mistake. Note that when you cancel your car insurance the car insurance company notifies the lending company and the lending companies sees to it that you get car insurance, which may be more expensive than your car loan itself. And in case when you cancel your car insurance and you get involved in an accident and your car is totalled, or your car got stolen, you are still obligated to pay for your car even though you cannot use it anymore or it is already gone. A lot of paying isn’t it? So better yet pay for costly car insurance rather than more costly consequences.
